The Early English Text Society (abbreviated as EETS) was founded in 1864 by Frederick James Furnivall and has published the basic editions of most Old English texts. From 1867 to 1921 the society also published the Early English Text Society Extra Series of books.

The society normally publishes one or two new editions per year. In 1970 a Supplementary Series was begun, a series which only appears occasionally (it currently has 22 volumes within it); some of these are new editions of texts earlier appearing in the main series.
